All the scoring came in the third period, beginning with Dan Girardi who netted the game’s first goal at :53.
Chris Kreider and Artem Anisimov followed with two insurance goals thanks to a power play and an empty net. Lundqvist had 21 saves, Martin Brodeur had 27.
Game 2 is Wednesday night at the Garden.
